Industry experts have released the top interior paint color trends for 2022, and there seems to be a trend: bringing in a breath of fresh air from the outdoors. Yes, paint shades of blues, greens, and earth tones are forecast to be popular, but do you agree with the future palette from the pros?

If you want a new shade of color in the new year in one of your home’s rooms, consider these top 10 colors from many others in a variety of brands out there in the market.

Evergreen Fog

According to Sherwin-Williams, this timeless shade “signals growth, emergence and new beginnings.” Green in general, of course, represents nature and growth, which is something we’re all looking forward to in 2022. The gray-green Evergreen Fog shade is soft, subtle and sophisticated, so it’s the perfect complementary color for any room.

Very Peri

This is Pantone’s 2022 Color of the Year and it’s a bold one – and it’s a brand-new hue. The play on periwinkle packs a punch with bright undertones of blue, violet and red. Because of its power, Very Peri should be paired with neutrals, like a bright flower in a grass field. So, while this shade may not be one for the walls, it would be perfect in your interior design plan on throw pillows, rugs, or wall art (and I still thought it was important to include here because, after all, it’s Pantone).

Aleutian

Another homerun hue from Sherwin-Williams is Aleutian, created to promote calmness, mental wellbeing, balance, and productivity. Isn’t that something we all need, since spending more time at home living and working because of Covid? Aleutian, part of the company’s “Softened Refuge” 2022 color collection, is a whisper of indigo that gives off a fierce force of calmness – especially when joined by warm wood flooring or accents.

Breezeway

This pretty shade of silvery green shows off glints of highlights and undertones, depending on your angle. For this, Behr’s Breezeway is known to be versatile for where you choose to use it within the home and for the design style in that room, whether it’s casual-coastal, modern, vintage, Bohemian and more.

Subtle Peach

This trendy paint color by Valspar is like a cross between a fresh, fleshy Southern peach and a splash of blush champagne. The soft pastel pairs well with skin tones, which means it’s perfect for prep rooms like walk-in closets and bathrooms, but it’s also a great canvas for artwork in larger rooms, like bedrooms and living rooms.

Gilded Linen

No, it’s not white. Gilded Linen is one of a dozen Valspar’s warm, natural 2022 Colors of the Year that evokes a clean and cozy feel. It’s a transitional shade designed to organically open up any space, from entryways to hallways to mud rooms and beyond. Gilded Linen is a backdrop shade that begs for its room contents to be balanced, organized, and refreshed.

Breathe

The name of this shade says it all. We all need a little room to breathe over the past two years’ challenges, so why not roll into the walls? This paint color, created by Graham & Brown, again brings the outdoors inside our homes where we have been more than ever, with tranquil, natural tones like a clear summer sky.

Olive Sprig

PPG’s 2022 Color of the Year, Olive Sprig, doubles in the reasoning for this popular paint choice: it once again brings those greens indoors and also hearkens back to a nostalgic resurgence of incorporating antique furniture from the family or finds from area sales into our designs. It’s also flexible; going green with Olive Sprig contrasts perfectly either with those older, darker wood furnishings or makes a statement in more contemporary spaces with open shelving.

Guacamole

Dip your brush into this fresh, delish shade by Glidden, another green shade that’s making its way into modern, millennial homes to contrast with white subway tiles, gold hardware, or black accents to really spice things up. In fact, according to a survey conducted by The Harris Poll for Glidden, more than 3 in 5, or 62 percent, of Americans would be willing to use green paint somewhere in their home.

October Mist

Inspired by the tones of a flower’s stem, October Mist from the Benjamin Moore line is a silvery green sage shade that encourages a homeowner’s self-expression and creativity, while also working well with others (i.e., cabinetry, room accents, furnishings).
